Since I live in FL we get rain showers alot. I have a hard time falling asleep when it's pouring rain outside and was curious if anyone else did this too. :-)

I also have a hard time, as well. I like to listen to it, though.

If it's a low constant noise it becomes "white noise" for me and I can sleep. I like the sound of it.

It can keep me awake, but I really like the sound of rainfall, so I'm okay with it.

I love the noise, it's very soothing to me. I even have a rain CD I used to play all the time to help me sleep. But I can't sleep during major storms with thunder & lightning, etc. I'm always afraid I'm going to be struck by lightning lol & the sound thunder makes has always terrified me.

The only way I can fall asleep easily is through listening to the rain  .

there are lots of folk who find the rainpatter on the roof to be a soothing, calming soporific. the comedian w.c. fields was among this group, as noted in the book "w.c. fields and me." if there is thunder along with the rain then that would keep me awake.

On the contrary, the sound of rain is very comforting to me and makes me fall asleep within a couple of minutes. Unfortunately, for some reason I can't hear the rain at all in the current house I live in. Maybe we have a roof that's a little too well made?

I live in Florida too, and there is nothing I like more than the sound of rain on the metal roof. If it is not too heavy of a rain, I can sleep through it, as I find it very soothing. The only time I don't like heavy rain, is when I am listening to music or watching a movie. Then, I need my noise canceling headphones!

I can fall asleep really easily with rain coming down. I can't fall asleep if there's lightning, though, but not because it scares me or bothers me. It's because I basically have to watch the storm to see all the lightning bolts. I love it!

Rain in and of itself is not a problem, it's the thunder that's the real issue.

I have an even harder time, sleeping when it's snowing. I'm out of bed, every 20 minutes, looking out the window.

Being born and raised in Wyoming has made me pretty used to sleeping through stormy weather. Since moving to Oregon, I've actually found I sleep better when it's pouring rain here. Hell, I'm even able to sleep through intense lightening storms. The only reason I didn't sleep through the one we had here a few years back was because the sound of lightening scared the crap out of my German Shepherd, causing him to jump on my kidneys at 4 in the morning.
