1. This is an approximation of my formula for making life changes (the result of a philosophical New Year’s Eve some years back) and it has served me very well: Don’t set yourself up to fail. Always set reasonable goals for yourself and reward yourself when you attain them. If you are trying to break a bad habit, don’t torture yourself over slip ups—just get on with it and berate yourself only as much as you must to keep yourself on track. It's the trend that matters.

Somebody else do number 2! Something you've learned, maybe the hard way, that might possibly be helpful to others.

You catch more flies with honey, than you do, with vinegar.

Never come too close, the gravitational pull is usually to strong to resist.

It's a mad, mad world. It's the small, soothing rituals--such as brewing and drinking a cup of loose leaf green tea every morning--that can tether us to order when chaos threatens to break down our walls and sweep us away.

"I say let the world go to hell, but I should always have my tea."
— Fyodor Dostoevsky

A few helpful quotes:

Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh. – George Bernard Shaw

People are not perfect. They will screw up, sometimes in really awful ways. It is the power of forgiveness, therefore, that moves mountains.

Great thread, by the way.

Making a habit out of getting at least 30 minutes of exercise every day is probably the best thing you can do to alleviate stress and anxiety.

Women can be extremely competitive and volatile when other women are involved. They like fighting dirty too.
