My family is very German on both sides. But on my dad's side (Black Sea Germans), there is also a little Swedish and Polish. On my mom's side, there's a little Austrian. Basically, I usually describe myself as a German American.

I'm English, and paler than Caspar The Friendly Ghost or the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. I have French & Scottish (much to the disgust of my late grandfather on that side) ancestry, though.

Wht is it called that when it sounds so German? I asked a girl that once and she laughed at me - never got an answer or thought about it since :?:

ME = Nationality: Texan

Ethnicity: German / Irish / Swedish - pretty much in that order.

Blah blah blah and some blah blah blah American.

Too many family members to keep up with in genealogy.

Oh and a couple were masons and abolitionists during slavery if that counts.

Most Americans are mutts :) .
I am Irish, English, Shawnee Indian, and some Canadian Indian (little is known about the aspie side of the family, imagine that!)...other unknown origins.
Im American, my husband is French....his family is VERY French, very very few of them ventured out of France. I will soon be an American living in France :wink: .
