Thanks for the scientific analysis. The calculations are a bit beyond my reach. I'm pretty sure lack of mathematical comprehension is somewhere in my natal chart.

For amusement, I did it carefully (hopefully - still subject to my not making silly mistakes!), here's the maximum and minimum gravitational accelerations due to other objects on us:

All values in metres per second per second.

Moon - 3.71*10^-5, 2.97*10^-5
Sun - 5.87*10^-3
Mercury - 3.69*10^-9, 4.47*10^-10
Venus - 2.25*10^-7, 4.77*10^-9
Mars - 1.41*10^-8, 2.66*10^-10
Jupiter - 3.67*10^-7, 1.35*10^-7
Saturn - 2.64*10^-8, 1.37*10^-8
Uranus - 8.58*10^-10, 5.83*10^-10
Neptune - 3.68*10^-10, 3.08*10^-10

Earth - 9.79 (equator), 9.84 (poles)

For the planet maximums I've used the closest approach (innermost object aphelion, outermost object perihelion) and for the minimums the furthest (sum of aphelions); thus the high variation in strength for Venus and Mars.

In order of maximum strength:

The Sun, The Moon, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Mars, Mercury, Uranus, Neptune

Which feels right to me. :)

"Not much", I guess is the answer.

it is not the pull of the planets and such that is astrology's mechanism of action. the arrangement of the zodiac is just a marker for a particular time of birth when a particular karmic prearrangement begins to play out incarnate, as was patiently explained to me by various astrologers through the decades.

Karma is the traditional theory for astrologers, but if you are not into Eastern philosphy, a Western approach is akin to Jung's theory of synchronicity. In this case, there are regular repeating cycles of events on Earth that are linked to cycles in the universe. This theory assumes a link between our individual minds and the whole cosmos in which we live and of which we are an integral part.

Of course, if neither karma nor synchronicity inpresses you and you firmly believe that astrology is baloney, I'm okay with at too. I'm nothing if not tolerant. :)

A Scorpio.

There could be a lot to it. The gravatational lens effect, as electromagnetic waves pass behind a planet, or sun, they are bent by gravity, and converge into a beam.

Compared to general background, these beams would be very powerful.

As our life energy is very much universal energy, the imprinting of birth could have a lifetime effect.

Traditionally Leo, but the precession of equinoxes makes a jumbled mess of that.
Chinese-wise Snake, earth element.

I'm a Leo and was born in the year of the metal sheep. When I was a kid I was more like a leo but now I identify more with the sheep. I don't believe that astrology has any basis in real life but I do find it interesting reading about different personality types based on when you were born.

Is there any website where you can find out your moon sign for free?

Is this the sort of thing?

Moon Sign Calculator

My friend showed me this site that can calculate a full(?) natal chart for you.

http://www.astro.com

Go to the 'horoscopes drawing and calculations' section

Thanks for posting that, very interesting. I am impressed by both karma and synchronicity.

Sagittarius. Pretty sure I'm close to the cusp of Sagittarius and Capricorn.
