I found something interesting online today - and as I started to read about it (Called HSP, or Highly Sensitive People), I noticed some similarities between AS and this HSP . . .
the only thing is - I'm sure this Highly Sensivtive people is not going to be added to the DSM-V in 2013. Some of us are just highly sensitive. Nothing wrong with it.
Some of the things that stick out is hearing things or being sensitive to sound and having a need to go somewhere alone. Getting overwhelemed in your environment and being creative.
THe links are below if you'd like to read about them:

(I am 35 single, female and have yet to have a diagnosis of AS). Well, this will take care of most everything - except not getting social cues. Another name of this HSP is Sensory Processing Sensitivity or SPS. Go figure - I was tested in 2004 and I was told that I am "smarter" and have a higher IQ than others my age (I was 29 at the time) but my processor in my brain was slow. Hmmm.....
You may want to check this link. it's been discussed here several times.
