I have not smoked a cigarette in two days. It is difficult and makes me irritable but, in the end, is quite worth it. :D

Are there any former smokers on Wrong Planet?

Nice one, and I'm not a smoker so I don't think it really counts for me though?

Congratulations! I'm a former smoker and I used to smoke quite heavily for someone of my age. The first few days after I quit were the hardest, but you're right, it is worth it. I wish you well.

Congratulations! :D

I'm very proud of you. Nicotine is a hard habit to give up. I know of people who quit and than light up, again. I've never been a smoker, but I've seen both of my parents quit smoking and many members at my clubhouse, as well. You'll be a lot healthier, and your lungs will clear up, and think about all the money, that you will be saving. :)

Good on you NeverEnder! :D

No doubt there are non-smokers on WP. I quit smoking cigarettes earlier this week for a couple of days, then I smoked several days but have not smoked since early yesterday. I'm trying to quit for good myself. I'm tired of my clothes and my apartment smelling like cigarette smoke, not to mention my hair, hands and breath/teeth, yuk! It really is a disgusting habit that's dangerous to your health/well being. I don't know how much it cost for a pack of cigarettes where you are, but cigarettes are $5.00 + here in Virginia. Before I moved back to Virginia in 2007, cigarettes in Arizona cost around $7.00 + a pack. I never smoke generic cigarettes, double yuk. I'd rather save the money to use towards a vacation/holiday to Russia.

Good job. I smoked one cigarette. That was enough for me, I stood there feeling restless and it felt like I was sucking air through a clogged straw. I don't really get any effect from any kind of drug. Sleeping pills? Useless. Pain meds? Useless. When I was in the hospital for my collapsed lung they gave me morphine and I could swear they may as well have given me water.

Congratulations, I've been smoke free for 3 to 4 months. I was really worried that I'd gain 30lbs or more but so far it hasn't happened.

Good job! Smoking is loathsome, I am glad you've decided to embark on the path to cleanliness.

I'm an ex smoker. Congratulations for making it 2 days. I hope you can kick it completely, it's a ridiculous habit.

Congrats :)
I quit a few years ago, then restarted a few months ago then quit again - nasty habit, but it gets easier with time.
