Ok so this is like a swear jar except its a "homophobic jar." Everytime you say something homophobic you add $1 in to this "jar". Please, don't do it intentionally. I made this thread today because I was doing some reading for school and I got bored and said quietly "This is gay." Yes, I admit it.

So...

In my classroom at work I don't let the kids say "that's so gay" because it is a bigoted thing to say. At first they don't get it, but as soon as I explain, they stop. There's no need for any sort of punishment or anything. The jar's an interesting idea, but I couldn't do it at work because they'd steal it. I can however take points from participation and exams....the hate that.

I say lots of things are gay and I don't care, I also happen to not be homophobic in the least.

What special dispensation do you have that makes your use of a homophobic insult not homophobic? :?:

Lets put it this way, if a gay dude comes up and whispers in my ear that he likes my ass, it's a compliment. It's not eww gross get away from me. I also happen to have a gay friend, who has told me that if I was gay he'd f**k the s**t out of me, he calls things gay. So either I know the worlds gayest homophobe or words are just words and have no more meaning than the intention of it.

Words are words, but for many people some have negative connotations. With the 'war on marriage' folks trying to keep same sex marriage illegal, many of us in the LGBT community have an understandable knee jerk reaction to 'that's so gay'.

Keeping that in mind could keep you from getting decked by someone that doesn't know you.

I'm not worried about getting decked, my ex girlfriend did that to me a handful of times and when she wasn't I was hitting myself harder than she ever would. My jaw is fubar. Only thing that bugs me about getting decked is the possibility of going to jail for what I do back. I have never lost a fight in my life, and I haven't been into a fight since I started lifting weights. So if people want to take offense to a few stupid words I'll let them. I won't change my ways for anyone.
