I don't get it. Is the "gullible" part the joke? That doesn't make much sense, considering that those illusions do actually work. I imagine this dragon would be no different.

...or is this meant to catch out people who don't read through instructions before initiating action? If that's the joke, it's pretty mundane.

Same, its about as equal as the "did you know gullible is not in the dictionary?" I actually fell for that one, but now when I see or hear the word gullible in a joke im not falling for it.
