Rare names

Irulan, we live in two different Polands
I didn't know that Alan/a, Sandra or Anita are rare names. They're common. Maybe not like Anna, but common.

I've met/heard about people named: Longin, Racibór, Prakseda, Rozanna, Sambor, Mściwój, Dobrawa, Bożydar, Milena (and others old Slavic).
Or names like: Brajan, Dżesika, Wanessa, Andżelika, Dajana, Inez, Jordan, Kewin, Stiwen, Stella - they look funny.
Name almost mine: Helga. Funny too

One of my nieces is named Annaliese. It might be common in Germany, but I've never heard it in the US before. My sister used to be friends with a girl named Marita. I've never met another Marita to this day.

Diabella was likely the most unique one... (I suspect it was a cross of Dionessia and Arabella which were both common names in the area at the time

There were some other weird names but I liked that one... Diab (same root as Diablo meaning Devil) and Bella (meaning beauty) so... Evil Beauty?

Most of the other weird and unique ones were biblical names...
Such as triplets named Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego... all buried within a day or two of their births... I suspect they were all born with horrid fevers, and were named as such as inspiration to escape the fiery furnace of fever?

I like unique names. It tends to make someone easier to recall to me for reason.

There are lots of unique names in my town. It seems like pregnant black women name their unborn daughters using their left over letters from a game of scrabble.

What does that have to do with Star Trek?

I knew a girl named Jocelle in high school

Oscar, Jasper, Harold, Misty, Sadie, Roisin and Sinead (ro-sheen and Shin-ade - they are Irish names) Louis.

Maybe you just happened to know several Alans but generally this name is rare. Sandra and Anita aren't very rare but they aren't common either - they aren't names found too often (especially Sandra). Maybe they are more common in children but still. Sandra and Anita don't belong to really rare names, they are quite ordinary but just rarely given. I ever knew only one Sandra, one Alan and one Anita in my whole life. I would classify those two female names as being "rare common" - common in this sense that they aren't really rare, strange or anything but at the same time they are given rarely.

Q is the name of one of the characters (and the one of the whole race to which Q belongs).

Give some examples.

One of the most common stereotypes of AS is that such people are s-f geeks, so also the Star Trek ones.
