Went to the Store with my Dad. Haven't hung out one on one with him for awhile so this made me happy. :)

Not spending so much money, but did bought myself a new pair of shorts for $7.

(The actual price was $12, but it bought it 30 percent off.)

I've got about 11-13 beats done to a point I can start arranging rhymes to them. I didn't anticipate making most of the beats on my first mixtape, but I don't think too many other producers sample The Tragically Hip (drums) or Satyricon, Darkthrone, His Hero Is Gone, Entombed, Dismember, Sunn O))), Cradle of Filth, Slayer, Saetia, etc. for melodies. I'm going to comb through some Sonic Youth and Teenage Jesus too, third bridge notes sound awesome.

I might end up with a few more sampling my own bands, since younger me probably won't sue me if I use his metal riffs to make hip-hop. It's not like he ever finished those songs and they're loaded with a lot of riffs considering they're rarely over 90 seconds long. Even at this stage my collection of loops is longer than all of the gloomgrind** I ever recorded (~17 minutes vs. ~21).

** No, I never used that term at the time; yes I just invented it now, but it really does describe the collection of black metal and leftover Sonic Youth riffs I used in arrangements more typical of powerviolence in a poor attempt to imitate Love Lost But Not Forgotten and Orchid, but heavier because that's what maladjusted young men do. I might be in a better position to revive that project now since I don't think I'd get as hung up on focusing on 'finding a perfect sound', I'd just make miserable noise and scream over blast beats and chaotic jazz beats.

Edit: Make that 17 beats and nearly 28 minutes of music.
