BABY PRAYING MANTIS!! !! !! !!

Ahem, sorry. My dad and I (and my dog) went on a little nature walk (maybe 10 minutes total, I was surprised I even managed to get that much in), and on a plant leaf was a baby praying mantis! When asked what my favorite insect is, I usually just say praying mantis, though if I actually think about it my favorites will probably change fairly quickly. It was about as long as the end joint of my ring finger, where it hung out for a little bit, then I let it go when it seemed like it was reaching for the plants. Finding any praying mantis is rare enough (at least for me, where I am - and also which is not to say they aren’t there, they’re just really good at hiding and camouflage), let alone an adorable baby one! (Added bonus, a little one like that can’t give you a good, hard bite like an adult can - I’ve never been bitten by one, but I’m cautious with them since I saw that their bites are (as makes sense once I actually think about it) particularly painful)

I enjoyed watching the Trinity Sunday sermon and eucharist from church, online, with prayers for Black Lives Matter and Pride Month. It was also comforting to see and hear from many seniors living in isolation in care homes, sharing words of encouragement, unity, and acceptance for BLM and all oppressed groups in these times of strife. The rector hosted a quick "speed dating" option at the end for people to chat, and she arranges for one person to enter the tower each week, in a C19 mask, to ring the bells for peace.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is making me feel happy right now. :) Also coffee and my kitty, he's been such a good boy lately, he's like my therapy kitty for when i'm anxious.
