I did think about it but not for long

I gather most people have no idea how attractive or unattractive they are, so you're probably wrong.

Another practical advantage of contact lenses is that they don't steam up when you go from a cold place to a warm place.

Back in the day contacts were much better for clear vision than they are now. When I got mine renewed one day, the vision was kind of misty, so I kept taking them back and telling them to get it right. Eventually I found out what the problem was. They'd switched them to "gas permeable" so that they had microscopic holes in them to let my eyes "breathe." Not surprisingly, that causes misty vision. But they wouldn't go back to hard lenses because they said they were bad for the eyes. Later they told me about soft lenses, and I asked "is the visual acuity any better?" They said "no, it's worse." So I stuck with what I already had.
