Today, I've realized how much I hate going to the gym. It feels like everyone is staring at me.

It also doesn't help that I'm nothing but skin and bones. D:

I wasn't worried about people staring at me (trust me, I'm not overweight but I'm DEFINITELY not skin and bones either!), I was more bothered by the fact that the mirrors had been designed in a way that made you look REALLY FAT even if you weren't. I swear one day an anorexic lady came in but that mirror even made HER look fat! It's no wonder there's so many eating disorders around...

:) The worst thing about the gym is the women can be distracting.

I wouldn't worry about being too big or too small. I don't think people sit there and judge you there. Concentrate on good form at whatever you're doing, so you can avoid injuries. I still think breaking a good sweat is one of the more pleasurable things you can do for yourself.

The worst thing about the gym is the men watching you. :P

I think it would be difficult for me to disagree with you more. I like exercise, but it is ruined by the sweating.

I don't like going to a gym where I feel like I'm being watched (or even seen). And I am a healthy shape/size, so it's nothing to do with that.

Anspaughnato, Hey if you want to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger then you have to start somewhere.

Who cares what a bunch of strangers might or might not be thinking.

Imagine yourself a year from now with bigger biceps and a six pack. :D

I don't consider myself a perv or a starer. Sometimes certain actions cross your field of vision and it just can't be helped. 8)

I don't feel like I've actually exercised until my shirt and hair are wet with perspiration. I will keep going until I get that point. I must look gawd awful, but it does feel great.

Our gym offers a smaller "loft" area where people can go when they don't want to workout in a big room full of people staring at them. Ask if your gym offers something like that or if any other gyms in your area do. It makes a huge difference!

I'm trying to find a gym that has all the high tech machines that first came onto the market, in the Mid 1990s. That's the only thing that I feel would motivate me.

People look at me and sometimes check me out. It doesn't bug me at all. I prefer outdoor activities myself, but running outside in the cold air really takes a lot out of you.
