How old were you when you started to read magazines and newspapers? And what mags/newspapers did you read as a child? I started to read them at 8, which date I can state by the fact that I remember myself read the issues of "Home Guide" magazine from 1992 (I found them many years later and checked the dates). I can recall also myself read one tabloid article on Michael Jackson in which the singer was referred to as being 34 at that time.

In my preteens I used to read all the women mags mom used to buy: Tina, Home Guide, The Most, Hot Life, Moment for You, Shades and Shines, Claudia and many more, the names of which I can't recall now.

When I was a child I used to read Teddy (for kindergarten aged kids) and Cricket which were children's magazines - the only magazines intended for children I ever read. When I was 8-11 I also was a huge fan of Scandals, a tabloid devoted to all the stuff paranormal and something that was named Issue Smile - a children's monthly with jokes and humorous stories which I read when I was 8-12.

And when I was 12-15 I liked to read teen mags like Bravo, Bravo Girl, Popcorn and Our Miss (although I found them stupid and naive).

Oh I collected horrible history magazines ,lol, I love their songs, oh look what I found ...

I also have a giant stack of national geographics, Not sure where they came from.

I used to read Teddy too. I even won a book in their drawing competition. I was in kindergarten and I read it all myself, but this magazine was made for reading by parents. When I was bored, I used to take something from adults, like Baltic News or Election Newspaper (how to translate Wyborcza?)
Later: 5-10-15, Animals, Meet the World. Internet wasn't as popular as today, so I had a collection of teen magazines like Bravo or Twist and I learned teen behaviours from them. I was a nerd, so I hadn't friends.
Since my early teen age I buy Politics almost every week and their special editions too.

When I was younger I read detective comics, and I read the New Yorker a lot. The first chapter book I ever read was "Sideway Stories from Wayside School". But back in the day all my classmates were into "Goosebumps". Nowadays I love reading Shakespeare, and iam a comic book collector.

My parents encouraged me to read the newspaper when I was seven or eight, until the day I read a story about a rape and asked daddy what that word meant.

Aged 7-8: comics - Whizzer & Chips, Beano, Dandy, Roy of the Rovers (in that order of preference)
Aged 9-12: magazines - Smash Hits (pop music) and some football stuff
Aged 12-14: magazines - Amiga computer games magazines
Aged 14-16: magazines - Select, Vox and Q (all pop music)
Aged 17-21: magazines - Neon (movies), FHM ("lads mag"), Viz (comic book for supposed adults)
Aged 22-24: magazines - Focus & New Scientist (science)

I rarely buy comics or magazines these days.
I bought newspapers on and off from the age of 20 or so, but I never had a favourite. Now I hardly bother with them either, what with news (and more interesting opinions) being available on the internet.

I never liked newspapers because of the feel of them. Though I've enjoyed the NY Times whenever I've picked it up. I did read the comics in my grandfather's Sunday paper as a kid because there were colors and pictures. I started doing that at about 8 years old.

I didn't even look at magazines until I was a teenager. I read one beauty magazine for a couple of years in high school, but that was it.

I've always read, but didn't start on anything outside the kiddie genre until I was 8 or 9. My dad got a subscription to Popular Science, then I got a subscription to National Geographic. When I was 9 or 10, I gave up magazines for a while and read my first "real" novel, Jurassic Park and then begged my mom for every Michael Crichton book there was. Now I like Scientific American and still get National Geographic.

I didn't read mags or papers except when it was related to school work unless the funny papers count but that was only for a brief period when I was in elementary. I used to be into reading books for a while then

I remember reading Nintendo Power at least when I was six. I could at least understand the pictures... I don't recall if I knew what all of the words meant, but I do remember the magazine well. I also started to read (stare at) these really old comics that were based on famous stories in literature around the same time. They were given to my father by his older step-brother, and then my father gave them to me. The paper is kinda brown with age and they said stuff like 5 cents on the front for how much they cost. I don't know where by dad's brother got them :?. I still have them and for some odd reason as a kid I didn't destroy them :?. They seem in the same condition as before I got them. I'd try and sell them, but I find them sentimental now >_<. I of course just stared at the pictures as a kid and made up my own stories :D.
