I've started putting ideas together for a short story / vignette based on an event in my life but I'm having trouble developing a few of the characters I want to include. Finding a first sentence is hard too, so sometimes I leave the opening paragraph to the end after I've found my voice. Then it's easier to write the intro.
I write my (longer) stories in segments and then join them together (sometimes, I have yet to actually finish anything
). The intro is rarely the first thing I do.
