Last Tuesday, my manager and boss asked me to look after a fellow employee to see if he drinks on the job. I told them he did, and said "I thought you knew" They assigned me to make a mental note on the times he drank and where he drank. He drank a total of four times on Friday night and four on Saturday night.

Today I learned that he was unofficially fired.

All thanks to me. I feel like s**t for doing it, but then I thought about what would happen to me if I didn't do the task: not good.

Is this the same guy you were working with before (the jerkface)? Or is this drinking fellow the guy who replaced him?

It seems like they were already on to him so he would have gotten caught anyway. You earned brownie points so that's a good thing.

Should you be more loyal to a guy who drinks on the job or your employer who pays your salary?
