has anyone heard of dresser drawers that will only fit into its own corresponding slot? It's ridiculous! Why wouldn't any drawer fit into any slot? It's holding me back from unpacking and it's driving me nuts, N-V-T-S, nuts!

I have seen both kinds, and yes, it certainly can be frustrating when drawers only fit into their own specific slots.

I've seen that before, and I have a theory:

Someone with OCD designed them this way, specifically so that if a drawer breaks, you could order exactly that one.

Manager: But this doesn't make any sense. Make them all fit each slot, and he can just buy a new drawer. It doesn't matter if it's the top or 3rd down or whatever.

Designer: NO! If the third drawer breaks, he should get a new THIRD DRAWER. You can't have drawer anarchy. Top drawers shouldn't mix with lower drawers. That's just unnatural.

Manager: Ok. You scare me. We'll use your design. Ad guy?

Ad Guy: Custom drawers. Dinosaurs. Each one marked up 40 percent. Sentence fragments. Synergetic buzzwords. The user experiences custom integration of drawer and slot. Synergy.

Manager: You scare me too. Good idea, though.
