It's the way kids are spelling "what" these days.

I truly weep for the future. I really do.

Typing like that is part of the whole text lingo craze that young people are so into these days. I have disdain for that entire fad, although I do understand why you'd use it whenever sending text messages. Otherwise, it just makes you look lazy whenever you use that lingo.

"Should of"

"Alternate" instead of "alternant", and analogues

They make me want to nuke something.

I don't always utilize full sentences when I text, but I do spell words correctly-
I'd have to make a conscious effort not to.

It offends me very much. The English language is falling apart. I don't like the way that young people spell a lot of their words.

I disagree. I think the language is going through the much-needed process of refinery. What's the point in a silent H anyway?

I don't have a problem with it but I'm dyslexic & really s#ck with grammar & spelling. I barely passed my English classes in school. I also into the teen/tween culture more than most people my age are

"wat" is a very specific way of saying "what". They aren't misspelling it because they're lazy.

It's like "o rly" or "yesh".

It's laziness IMO. Can't be arsed to put in the. What is this? Texting? Can they even bother hitting the extra key?

Not when it comes to texting. Some have character limits for text

I use it sometimes, and laziness has nothing to do with it. "wat" shows a very specific emotion.

it does?
i think it represents laziness, laziness of the brain :( 'o rly' too, but 'yesh' is a cute pronunciation.

Maybe it's the stoner in me (HAH!) but 'wat' is that half baked confused emotion.

I've used that one, too. However, "wha..." is more of a shocked emotion than half baked and confused.
