"Roller Derby"

I just went to my first roller derby bout and if I was 40 years younger I would so be into doing this.
Everyone involved is so up beat.
My granddaughter's joined the kids learning group and I think this is fabulous.
Women are ruling this sport. It will teach my girls team work, that they are strong and capable, if they fall to get up and keep going, that if they need to they can be tough, they can have sassy personalities.
So now my girls are Litl' Pound Cake and Star Storm.

Anyone else involved?

I've never been to a roller derby, but I think that it would be fun to try.

I've thought about joining the local roller derby team, but I don't think I would be any good at it. For one, I haven't actually taught myself how to rollerskate yet.

I have never seen Roller Derby live like you just did, but I used to see it on TV many years ago ... and I love it! Back then, they were on a portable, banked track, and they used to come to my home-town, Jr.-High gymnasium (the largest gym in the states at that time). The crowds were always large there, but I never got to go.

@IdahoRose -- You don't need to know how to skate. The women on the team teach you. Most of the women on the team here never skated except as kids. They are all fantastic now. Our cities team just had their 1st birthday bash. Won the game 102 to 68.
