Sunny and very hot now in Portland. Even though there is no heat wave now like there is along the Eastern Seaboard and the Mid-West, the heat here is IMO, close enough to match.

Fire department responding to mulch fires all over town.

In other words, it's so hot the ground is catching on fire.

Woohoo, 79ºF at 12:30am — the first time it's been below 80 in three days.

At least you've made it below 70 degrees Fahrenheit!

We're much cooler than yesterday....it might hit 30 Celsius today--but not over 30.

We were close to 100 Fahrenheit, 37.8 Degrees Celsius, for both days of the past weekend.

I was annoyed that the City did not declare Emergency, which needs 3 days in a row of 33C. Fine, but the humidity was 40C. We have rescue cooling stations all over the city but no, we were one degree too cool.

The city should have established cooling stations for people above a certain age.

I know it is rare for your section of Canada to be 33 degrees Celsius for three straight days. That’s too high a standard. I would say 30 Celsius or above for three straight days is a decent heat wave for your area.
