Name a song which best describes you, your contemporary state of mind or social situation.

For me it's 'Bastards on Parade' by Dropkick Murphys. It's very melancholic and the singer sounds fittingly jaded, but it's also uplifting.

Three come to mind
Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger--"I'm not sick but I'm not well"
Time by Pink Floyd "Then one day you find ten years have got behind you,no one told you when to run,you missed the starting gun"
The Trial by Pink Floyd

Cool idea for a thread. For the moment, I think I'd say "With or Without You" by U2, just because of some things I've had on my mind.

As far as songs that kind of describe my life story/life in general, though, I'd say "You Can't Always Get What You Want" by the Rolling Stones and "All in Good Time" by Ron Sexsmith.

Good idea for a thread. But probably better in random than here.

My hardest weekend of the year has just arrived:

I'm Crying - The Kinks

I have to grieve alone, though I'm at my parents' place. It shows how much my parents dislike the music of The British Invasion. If I didn't have an accent, they'd like that music a lot better.

I'm really sorry this is the part I have to cite a foreign band that you probably don't know anything about, for it's the lyrics that first count in, and they are all sung in Hungarian.

Most songs of Bergendy Ensemble have lyrics that I can identify with or relate to, no other band comes close.

I also like some Pink Floyd songs and lyrics up to 1975 Wish You Where Here, and many song from Simon & Garfunkel.

Bergendy Ensemble: Always Alike (1969)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wc7fuZKaKiI

1. When the Moon is rising another day’s passed,
The old river exchanges all its gold for silver.

2. I walk slowly on the riverbank, turn down my head,
I dream the silence, don’t hear the distant rumble of the city.

R. I’ll forget how noisy the world is,
I’ll forget the woes and sorrows of weekdays.

3. When the Moon has set, I forget I’ve got tired long,
Tomorrow everything starts over again, always alike, always alike.

I have been waiting for weeks to find out if my job position will be included in a major layoff. What I have heard so far doesn't sound good. I am supposed to find out at the end of next week. This song sums of my situation fairly well.

This is probably the song that best describes Lace-Bane :?

The sound of the shakuhachi flute is so beautiful. It carries me to another place. One day I hope to learn how to play the instrument and to sit under a tree on a mountain, looking at the view and playing such music.
