Anyone else seen the latest report? Does this hold true for anyone that their father was older when they were conceived? My dad was 32.

My dad was 27 when he knocked my mom up(she was on the pill).

I have a older half-sister that my dad had at 21 and she seems to be on the spectrum.

If I'm on the spectrum, my parents were 17 and 20 (dad). My husband was 31 when my son was born. All the parents I knew back home were in their 20's and early 30's with autistic kids.
The only couple I can think of that have a son on the spectrum that are in their 40's don't count. Their son had an in utero injury (stroke) that gave him autistic traits.
So, I can't even think of any examples, young or old that I know personally or even distantly.

I just love these speculations on causal connections. All they seem to have are ages and rates of autism in a very small region. MAybe it has nothing to do with sperm mutation, but the type of guys finally having children at 40+???
Or maybe they are just counting the people that are still in Israel? They are a lot of variables when it comes to people in the middle east, especially a place that sees fluctuations in population and immigration. Even if it were sperm mutation, it may not be age-related but a single event in history or health crisis.

It has nothing to do with the fathers or mothers age at all. My father was 29 when my brother was born and my mother was 30 and he's an NT, although a little bit shy and introvert. It's genetic. My father is an undiagnosed aspie, my grandfather is an undiagnosed aspie, my great grandfather was an undiagnosed aspie, my grandmother is perhaps an undiagnosed aspie, my great grandmother was probably an undiagnosed aspie, my great grandmother's brother was probably an undiagnosed aspie, my great grandmothers father might have been an undiagnosed aspie, after what people have told about him. My mother and her mother are NT's with a reserved attitude though. Great grandfather and great grandmother both came from families way out on the rural parts of Sweden. My theory simply is that aspies and NT's with aspie traits have always found attraction in one another, long before autism was known (or better to say, named) at all.

My Dad was 24. Why are we posting these facts? Age doesn't matter. What would we do if all of our Fathers were to find this site and read this?

They will say anything. They are not walking in these shoes.

Some research money would be used better to help AS have better lives and provide job openings.

I posted a message in the Men's Only forum asking why men use harmful tactics sometimes.

I wonder if they possess this trait because they have children.

My father was twenty two. I think we've knocked this one fairly squarely on the head, certainly as far as this (not insubstantial) sample of people goes. That's academic research for you, anything for a PhD.

More interestingly, I have only identified one other member of my family with aspie traits and this seems unusual compared to others posting here. This was my paternal grandfather suggesting there may be something in the male line idea.
