There is some low-level debate on other websites regarding Literary Archetypes. Systems including anywhere from 4 to 35 or more archetypes have been proposed, anbd there is considerable overlap.

Donovan Leach mentions 12 in his song "Atlantis", yet names only 5. They are:

1. The Poet - A wordsmith; one who specializes in communication.
2. The Physician - A Healer
3. The Farmer - One who works the land
4. The Scientist - One who seeks knowledge of how the universe and everything in it works
5. The Magician - One who performs miracles

What might the other 7 be? I propose:

6. The Sovereign - One whose Word is Law.
7. The Slave - One whose survival depends on his or her ability to work.
8. The Priest - One who inspires moral and ethical behavior.
9. The Artisan - One who strives for perfection in material crafts
10. The Warrior - The Hero.
11. The Sage - One who teaches
12. The Scholar - One who absorbs knowledge of its own sake.

What say you?
