if you had a choice between living in a nice house with great food and nice clothes, a large TV, but with verbally abusive people who won't leave you alone in the house with you, and between living alone in a crumbling hut in Mexico, enough food but mostly rice and beans, a mattress on the dirt floor. but no one to hassle you, which would you choose?

I'd take the hut. dont see the difference between sleeping on a mattress on the floor or a mattress on a bed. and I'd spend most of my day outside anyway. at least I'd have some peace and quiet.

It depends, If those abusive people were my family I wouldn't mind living with them but if complete strangers from very different backgrounds then no, I'll live in the hut.

I'd take the nice house and all that, then I'd probably find some way to save up and move out...or take to the streets for a while especially if this hypothetical situation happened currently as winter is over. I do not speak spanish so being in mexico would be very isolating at least if I live in this nice house with mean people I can leave and go hang out with friends/other family and avoid them especially if its a big house.

I wouldn't mind a hut in the forest, just not in mexico per say.

I'm too dependent to live alone so I'd take the verbal abuse thou the fact that it's a nice house matters little to me.

Harmony is to be valued.
Frid är viktig :)

Material things make you happy on the outside.
Peace makes you happy on the inside.

And besides I can always go out of my hut and talk to people if I want to.
