not bad for a second language 8)

oh whoa I got the whole top 20 correct! :D

Well done!

Maybe it being a second language helps, cos you have to study it, rather than just pick it up by osmosis.

What's your first language?

Yeesh! Congrats!

I only got 66.

I'm amazed gargantuan and septuagenarian and addlepated and booyakasha aren't on the list though...

Booyakasha! Any septuagenarian is addlepated that these words didn't make the gargantuan list!

See how common they are!

I got 65 out of 100.

I actually quite enjoyed the game.

There is one common word what isn't there and it is ''is''.

26/100.

All of these words are non-words. They're mostly grammatical. They don't mean much on their own. Half of them I did not even think of but it submitted it when I was typing another word.

this was interesting. 59. "is" is already included as a form of the verb "to be" and words that are not nouns are still words.

im not a native speaker and thus i do not have as much statistical information as people living in an english speaking country, on the other hand the proportion of common words in ones vocabulary is usually higher in a second language compared to ones first language i guess.

unfortunately i ended up cursing a lot because i did not understand why the words "why" and "f**k" insisted on not being as common as i thought they were.

40

Most of these words are just grammatical tools that we take for granted.

that was pretty fun! 49. I was stuck on about 12 untill about two minutes to go when I realised that by singing a song in my head I could get loads of those little words that the list was mostly made up of. :) although im sure there was a few that I typed that it didn't pick up. :/

The words on this list mean almost nothing by themselves though, thus hardly being a word in the sense I think of.

I was confused why things like sun, wind, animal, house, friend, love, bad, evil, moon, wrong, friend, knowledge, sad, happy etc. were not on the list. Those seem like more essential and common concepts and things than pure grammatical words.

Whatever, my score is embarrassing.

I scored 75 but I didn't guess the top 20, just the top 12. The words come in groups, though, like when you think 'he' must be there, so must all other personal pronouns, etc.

...Of course, I'd never have thought 'work' would be there.

That website has robbed me of many hours of life

I got 69 out of 100 (got the first 41)

In the last 5 minutes or so I swept up a few by singing to myself

'Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends . . .'
'I am, whatever you say I am, and if I wasn't, why would you say I am . . .'
'Would you like to marry me? And if you like you can buy the ring . . .'

The 2% who have answered 'all' were obviously rigorously pursuing an agenda and so revised them all. Probably not going to help them in a spelling bee though . . .
