Hello all! I'm back!

Just spent a week in Tenerife in the Canary Islands, an archipelago that is an integral part of Spain. Had a very cheap holiday there: half-board, flights and a large hire car (including petrol) for £651 (€762; US$1,017). Good hotel and surprisingly good and cloud-free weather too. Took tons of photos whilst I was in there also - more than 2,000 for a one-week trip and managed to bring back nearly €100 of spending money back with us.

A bit tired now so I'm going to get a quick pizza.

* The phrase in the title means "the fat pirate". I was called pirata, a Spanish term of abuse for the English, by a local whilst I was there in a place called a 'cultural centre' of the island, La Laguna mere minutes after seeing a huge bit of anti-racist graffiti on a wall! Cultural centre my hole, it was a dump. Rest of the holiday was great though.

Welcome back! :D

It seems like you had a lot of fun on your vacation. I look forward to seeing the pictures that you took. I'm glad that you had a great time and got to do lots of fun things. It's too bad about the incident at the cultural centre but I'm glad that you were able to enjoy yourself despite of it.

Here's a welcome hug.Image

Didn't bother me much at all but it did rather stick in my craw after seeing the anti-racist graffiti a bit. Most of the locals are friendly enough considering that tourism has essentially invaded much of their island.

I was in the much quieter north of the island, although there were still lots of things to go and see and do. I ended up at a Belgian beer place, a brewpub, the capital city, local botanical gardens and more.
