Does anyone wish you had a big house like this one?

http://www.virginiamls.com/sales1/burke ... rounds.htm

One of mom's friends actually lives in this same area. HUGE HUGE house.

Do any of you envy people especially men who have wives and children that make at least $180,000 (US Dollars) a year? That means he, his wife and children can always fly first or business class. They can go on cruises at least twice a year. They can stay at fancy hotels or resorts that are at least 4 star. Of course flying first or business is comfortable. The seats are wider and you get better food and quicker access to bathroom and hardly screaming babies are in these type of classes. Cruises are so expensive, but the scenery can be pleasant and the tours that you can choose to go on. Staying in fancy hotels and resorts has got to be great, better food, better hotel rooms, etc.

Not really. I fear I would be greedy if I was wealthy.

Sure, who wouldn't want to live in a house like that? But I'm very happy with where I live now. Plus that area is too hilly for me. I wouldn't want to drive on those hills in the winter!

I've actually flown first class before and it's not really all that different from business or coach. The seats are a bit roomier and the food's just a little bit better but that's it. And I have no interest in taking any cruises so no input there ;) Fancy hotels aren't all that either. If you're on a vacation, you want to go around and see the sights and have fun, not just stay in the hotel the whole time. That would bore the heck out of me!

I don't feel jealousy towards wealthy people, or if I ever do it's minimal. I simply refuse to be as obsessed with money as most people are. It gets old. And as long as I'm not living in poverty and have the wherewithal for food, a place (where I don't have to experience persistent antisocial behaviour) to live and all the things I regularly enjoy doing, I feel well satisfied with my standard of living.

The area where my feelings of jealousy need work, is towards people who are hale and hearty. Hale and hearty enough that:

a) They're not vulnerable to bullying, or to abuse perpetrated because they're perceived as weaker.

b) They can find partners, are able to be desired and validated as partners, and have normal lives in the field of dating, sex and relationships, and therefore would not get accused of being a paedophile.

Maybe a) is sometimes connected with money, but b) generally isn't.

I'm not, but it would be nice to live comfortably. I just don't understand why people need a to buy a yacht or something to that extent. Just to feel superior to others? :?

Of course I'd like to have a big house and big bucks... but most wealthy people are greedy and selfish, and I'd never want to be that way.

I only get envious when I have to send my kid to their kid's birthday party and their brat makes a face because our gift isn't a damned 500 dollar one!! !! Other than that, I don't care.
I'm just happy to have a roof over my head, a job, and a tasty sandwich. That's wealthy to me because I know what's it like to be poor. I don't even want to remember those days. :(

It really depends on where you live in the US. $180K doesn't go very far, in some regions. Now $500K, that's pretty wealthy everywhere in the US. Neither of those incomes would afford the house that you showed, however.

I'd love to have a 16,000 sq.ft. multi-level home.

I'm happy with 1600 sq.ft., though.

It beats living on the street.

Be thankful for what you have, and stop whining that you don't have a mansion.

Have any of you even read The Great Gatsby?

It's okay, when it happened I realized just fortunate I was.
