I'm not keen on cereal meals, but I do occasionally go through a cereal phase. I often go through food "phases". With cereal, I prefer to buy bags of several different unsweetened, puffed, whole grain cereals, and a bag of sweetened, puffed wheat, and then mix them together to get a lighter sweetened, mixed puffed grain cereal, which I eat cold, and plain--no toppings and no milk. If I want a hot cereal, I will buy and cook up kamut, or some other whole grain. Then I will take a portion and put fruit juice, or fruit preserves, or fruit sauce on it. I only get juices, preserves, and fruit sauces with no added sugar. They don't need it.
In case any one is wondering, kamut is a relative of wheat, and has the largest kernel of any member of the wheat family. If you are gluten sensitive, don't get kamut, as it does have gluten. You might want to consider one of the whole grain varieties of rice, quinoa, or some other gluten free grain. Also for the wonderers, quinoa is pronounced KEEN-wah. Wow! Some of you have learned two new things today!
Now, go enjoy your cereal, and remember, we on the spectrum are all:
A Different Drummer
If a man does not keep pace with his companions,
Perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.
Let him step to the music which he hears,
However measured or far away.
--Henry David Thoreau
