I was the victim of a hacking attack this morning. I have a microserver which my weather station logs on and also backs up my files every week. This morning my broadband box's data LED was flashing at a very high frequency for about 10 minutes, then it malfunctioned. Turned out my microserver was the victim of a brute force attack. My friend (who is a software engineer by profession) is fixing it remotely right now. Some system files have been replaced by some bugged files. I hope they haven't got my data.

Has anyone else been the victim of hacking? I'd like to hear your stories.

I'm sorry you had to go through that and I'm glad that your computer's repairable.

I had a vps for two years and got ssh brute-force attacks routinely. None of them ever succeeded, though.

I hope no important data was lost for you. That was always a big worry for me. :?
