In terms of fruit pies I've not had any apart from apple. Savoury pies are more common in the UK. I enjoy a good scotch pie from time to time.

I like your characterization of this time of year as pie season. Sometimes I associate different times of the year with things and refer to that time as "Blank" Season. I like to drink Brandy Alexanders During the cold months, so right now I'm looking forward to Brandy Alexander Season. Also, I adore pie. Pumpkin, Apple, Peach, Strawberry rhubarb, Lemon Meringue, Blueberry....MMmmm...delicious...

It's a sort of sweet taste. A bit like Egg Custard Tart. :)

Always thought it was a savoury food myself.

That's SO unfair to the Legions of creative people who have now been denied the opportunity to
paint pictures of pies, or to photograph them artistically (revealing subtleties many have guessed, but few have had the courage to display so brazenly),
describe in such eloquent detail in the rhapsodic pauses that only angels can aspire to
the profound and perfect loss of unplanned poetic pie perfidy
and
the rhythms and melodies that could have energised whole orchestras!

...Nay!
i must reiterate this point!
Now, there are whole symphonies that have no sauce!

Ah - but if you check, you'll see that "Moved" is poorly named and your post is still accessible from that forum - so any nascent photographers of the wonders of puff pastry, potential Apple-based orchestrators of pies or fruit of any kind, sculptors or budding painters of pie (or indeed, Pi) - need fear not. Their baking-related creativity is free to flourish unabated...
