The catfish special at the local cafe.

It wasn't very good catfish at all and was horribly overpriced. It didn't have much flavor and what flavor it did have was more from cooking it in old oil.

I don't eat out very often -- usually one or two times a month. I had intended to go to the drug store in the next town and eat at their lunch counter.

I can get much better catfish at a nearby town for about $3 less. Not only is it much better, you get your choice of two of several side orders (I like their beans and cole slaw) and enough catfish to stuff yourself and bring enough home for lunch the next day. Effectively, two meals for the price of one.

There's a cafe in another nearby town that has quite good catfish on Fridays for about $5 less. Their catfish plate has about the right amount of catfish for a senior citizen.

I have to go to the nearby town that has a drug store with a lunch counter next Friday to have my stitches (minor surgery the Thursday before last) removed so I'll probably go there for lunch then. They have my favorite hamburgers and onion rings in the county.

It's hardly worth documenting really but the last thing I bought was a bag of crisps

On the one hand, they're 50% owned by a large Israeli company, and I figure those guys probably are pretty smart operators, but on the other hand their assets are in the North Sea, which puts them at the mercy of Ed 'Bernie Winters' Miliband and his Net Zero fixation. Strange one, but I couldn't resist.
