What do you think cities look like in the distant future?

Will big major cities like new york and tokyo ever look like dystopias from science ficiton movies such as blade runner and the fifth element?

Need your opinons and ideas? Feel free to upload pics on my thread with your visions of what future cities might look like.

If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stomping on a human face -- forever. [Eric Arthur Blair]

Depends on the distance from now.. but probably alot of cyborgs - humans integrating with machines and computers. Alot more corruption I'd imagine, probably lower population levels..

I think people are either going to have to move inland further or create artificial salt marshes on the coasts to protect cities and beaches from the growing number of large storms. Additionally new sources of energy will need to be found so depending on what they are they will probably have a visible presence in all populated areas. Also while population sizes would ideally stop growing or even go down over time they most likely will just continue to grow, which means that vertical farming and hydroponics will become very common.

Isaac Asimov believed [in a 1973 article he wrote] that eventually in a few hundred years or less, the population would drop to less than 2 billion.

They would be desolated because of using weapons of mass destruction being used on them.
