I'm getting it pretty soon (like next week or so), my dads work will pay for it! Damn I'm good! :D

I'm avoiding it like the plague. I mean the DRM software embedded in Vista is malicious, and allows Microsoft to lock you out of your own computer if they 'think' you're doing something bad like piracy. I personally see Vista as a scam by Microsoft to make more money out of something that's just basically extra eye candy.

I can't honestly wait until a hacker spoofs the locking signal embedded in the DRM software, and locks everyone out of their shiny new Vista running computers. Sorry but if Microsoft is going to implement such malicious things like that in their software, then they will pay the price by determined hackers.

Never use the "dot-zero" release. Wait for at least the first patch or, for Windows, the first service pack. Look at how XP was full of security holes until SP2, and even then it was fixed by spackling over the holes with a firewall instead of turning off unneeded listening ports by default.

Also note that Vista is going to be very hardware-hungry, just like XP was over 2K. More memory will be needed to support the extra features, and possibly more CPU power. Certainly more power in the video card.

Expect lots of driver bugs at first as hardware vendors get to shake out their code on oddball setups. Lots of old hardware will never get updated drivers, so your legacy gear will gather dust on the shelf.

The new LUA policy is going to break a lot of software. It's a Good Thing, but there's a lot of bad code out there that lots of people think is essential. Games will be particularly hard-hit, and Vista will have a hack to "lower the shields" to allow bad code to continue to run and leave you open to security issues. And upgrades will come at a price. (I have a client using AutoCAD 2002 and it's one of those that violates LUA and demands that one be in the Power User group to get around the issue on XP.)

NNNNOOOOOOOOOOO, don't do it ! !!

I heard a late breaking bulletin yesterday that all online gaming is incompatible with Vista ! !! Yes, believe it or not, those good folks at Microsquish forgot about ONLINE GAMING ! !! The explanation is that Vista is sooooooo secure, it PROTECTS you from those nasty online games ???? There was some guy from one of the more popular websites saying he would sue Microsquish if they didn't fix this problem. Stay tuned for details ....

Xbox: Computer disguised as a gaming console.
Vista: Gaming console in disguised as a OS.

I'd wait a while. At least until Service Pack (or is that sticking plaster?) 2 or 3 comes out!

Knew a guy who was over in the UK upgrading all the USA military computers, when XP came out. They were only just upgrading to Windows 2000 because they reckoned that Microsoft had only just filled the holes in 2000's security. He said they wouldn't even consider XP for several years. Must be pretty much the same with Vista.

Might as well just get a Mac. Then you can experience what Vista is trying to emulate. :)

LOL ! ! I read a review of Vister, and the writer kept saying "it does this, just like the Mac, and it does that, just like the Mac", so why buy an imitation?? Just buy a Mac, and get the real thing ! ! I would, if I had the shekels.

Sorry, nothing Microsoft ever does will pull me away from Linux.

Speaking of which, you forgot an option in your poll.

Microsoft said they will support XP for many more years. I think 5 more years.

According to an article I read, it'll be until 2011.

Win2k got EOL'd last year. So figure XP will get EOL'd 6 years after it was originally released. Security patches will continue somewhat longer.
