I've been stung by a few bees, and at least one wasp.

I'm fortunate that I've never had an allergic reaction.

I got stung a few times by bees and wasps. I've mostly gotten stung by yellow jacketts ...Click here for Image... these hurt very bad. I've also got stung by paper wasps a few times and they hurt just as bad as paper wasps.

One time I got stung by a bumble bee ...Click here for Image... several times on my belly button. I would say they hurt pretty bad too. They are one of the few bees that can sting repeatedly too. They however are less aggressive then yellow jackets and wasps. I got stung because I got near it's hive which was in the ground.

I never got stung by a honey bee ...Click here for Image... i'm sure these a pretty painful and they will leave their stinger in you. Inspite of their stinging abilities I love honey bees and pretty much all insects. image

When I lived in Tennessee for a few years in elementary school I got stung many times because I asked for it:
21 times by bees because I wanted to hold one and the feeling of them buzzing in my hand made me laugh, until they resorted to the stinger to get out
I feel sorry for them because I found out they die shortly afterwards
3 times by a wasp in random areas
once by a hornet in the head because I was throwing rocks at the nest (It felt like I threw one at my self)
In Florida in my middle school years I estimate fire ants bit me over a hundred times because kicking their abundant nests and watching the unfolding chaos was fun, they often got on my shoe, one time I happened to be holding a nest in a flower pot while making a school garden and I got bit dozens of times.

Once by a wasp, on my hand.

Mosquitoes seem to like me. But I don't know if they count.

I know that jellyfish don't fly but one stung me when I was swimming in the sea in Spain. I had a bit of a panic attack and a great big German man on his raft rescued me and took me to the shore.

I felt a bit foolish afterwards, but it really hurt and it took all the pigment out of my skin too. I had all white lines up my leg.

bees only and each sting had a worse allergic reaction. the last one was pretty scary. so i have an epi-pen in my arsenal of meds and coping tools.

I was attacked by a swarm of wasps as a young kid. I was playing under a bush in the garden and an area of ground caved in - it was an underground wasp nest. I got stung head to toe, lucky not to have ended up very ill / hospitalised.

More recently I sometimes get bitten by horse flies while in my garden - it isn't a sting as such but is fairly painful and often leads to infected itchy wounds - they literally take a bite out of your flesh! Spouse had to take a course of antibiotics after such a bite as she got blood poisoning from it. If you feel one land on your skin you've got no more than around three seconds to swat them or they bite; thankfully they aren't very fast so you can easily swat them if you feel them land.

3 times by wasps and once by a bee.
One of the wasps crawled up my trouser leg but luckily I was kneeling down at the time !

When we was kids, we was building a go-cart in the back, and a wasp stung my friend on his ear.

His ear swelled up to the size of a dinner plate.

 I'm not even exaggerating.

Is a sting the same as a bite?

You see this is where I get confused.
