This morning, I dreamed that I was driving down the caliche road next to the cemetary and saw a large snake resting in the middle of the road with very dark solid coloring. He was very similar to some we have around here that are very docile. As usual, I got out to move him off of the road (I do that even with rattlesnakes).

In this case, however, as I got close I saw that it had a triangular head like a rattlesnake so I went to the car and got a set of snake tongs because I wasn't sure what I had. When I grabbed him with the tongs, he got extremely violent and was whipping around all over the place trying to get loose and nearly succeeding.

At this point, I decided to have the snake identified. One of the neighbors was walking down the road on her daily walk and so I had her get in my car and go get a container to put the snake in. She brought back a bucket and a gunny sack and I put the snake in the gunny sack and the gunny sack in the bucket and headed for the house.

By the time I got to the house (only a mile away) the snake was just about breaking free. We had a large water tank we had bought but hadn't put up and didn't have a top. It was maybe 20 feet across, 15 feet high, and made of steel.

I grabbed a ladder, climbed up, and dropped the bucket with the gunny sack and the snake into the tank. Within a minute or two it escaped from the gunny sack and the bucket and was mad as hell and trying to get me. Unlike any other snake I've ever seen or heard about, this one could jump a good five feet in the air which wasn't enough to get out of the tank. It kept circling the walls of the tank trying to find a way to get out and to get at me.

At this point, I called the local game warden and told him what I had and asked him to find a state biologist to bring along to identify the snake. He arrived a couple of hours later and the snake was just as mad as before, or even madder. I got a couple more ladders so we could all climb up and look into the tank.

While we were discussing what to do next, I woke up.

Studies have shown that we forget 90% of our dream within a minute of waking up.
