The vocalization spotted hyenas make that we interpret as 'laughter' is sort of bark that is meant to convey frustration, excitement, or fear. They will usually make this sound during a hunt or when they are feeding on prey as a group.

It lets other hyenas know that one of the other members of their pack has either made a kill or been attacked. When sharing a fresh kill, the sound might also indicate frustration on the part of a younger animal that hasn't gotten its share yet. Likewise, the animal in possession of the meat might also "laugh" as a warning to others that it's not ready to share yet.

The pitch of a hyena's "laugh" usually varies dependent upon its social status and the subordinate animals tend to "laugh" more frequently with a higher pitch.

quasi-omnidirectional speakers are more forgiving of room placement, than monopole speakers.

88 percent of Facebook users "creep" ex-lovers after a breakup.

I discovered a talking Jewish grandmother doll on eBay called Bubbeh, and it was on the show Shark Tank. It's like the Hanukka version of Elf on the shelf and was kind of neat, but I had to look up some of the Yiddish words the doll used. :)

The inventor of the Rubix's Cube solved it in one month before introducing it to the world.

A lot of the vintage Mickey Mouse toys were really weird and creepy-looking. I guess they were having problems figuring out how make 3-D models based on 2-D cartoon characters, like those early costumes at Disneyland.

That smaller stars that don't sparkle as bright as the more audacious and awe-inspiring larger of their kin have a long echoing laughing going on despite being blotted out, as they will still be there when many of the big beasts have burnt out as they consume their fuel at a much greater rate :star:

that the "Deconstruct" module in iZotopeRx can extract vocals/solo instruments out of a monophonic sound file. :dj:

That walking irises exude a sensuous perfume at noon, which is not present in the morning or evening when I usually sit next to them.

King Henry I supposedly died from eating too many lamprey eels against the advice of his physician. Lampreys were popular with upper-class people during the Middle Ages due to their rich, meaty flavor and texture, but blood-sucking leech-like parasites don't sound very appetizing to me.

I knew what a rack of ribs is, but I didn't know that a chop is one section of a rack, with just one rib bone and the meat attached to it.

I've learnt that stupid people are always going to exist in this world, and there isn't much you can do to change it. Well, it wasn't something new I learnt, but more of a re-affirmation.

Stupid people exist. Smart people exist.

You're an executive----that's pretty good.

My attitude is to take it one person at a time. Don't expect stupidity---but don't expect smarts, either.
