My second grade teacher called me a non-verbal child. I don't think she meant it in absolute terms, as she also gave me a passing grade in speaking, but it is the harshest assessment of my social skills I got in school. At the beginning of that year I was also graded as "needs improvement" in almost all areas, but progressed to "satisfactory" and some outstanding by the end of the year.

Could also be that this teacher used me to make herself look like a miracle worker.

But for some reason I was also given an IQ test that year, which leads me to...

My IQ was tested in school in grades 2 and 5. In grade 2 I scored 121, with no description or details of the test other than "C.A.T." which I believe is descriptive (cognitive aptitude test?) and not a name.

The fifth grade test was the Lorge-Thorndike. It is broken into verbal and non-verbal parts, on which I scored 110 (13 months and one grade ahead) and 141 (5 years 3 months and five grades ahead), for an overall score of 126.

Given how poorly I was assessed scholastically at the beginning of second grade, I can understand why they tested me, but by fifth grade my grades were fine and my social skills were improving, and my parents had apparently concluded that I "got better". No clue why I was tested again. And my mom didn't tell me I was autistic until I was 35.

I read all the Covid rules about flying to Queensland.

I'm sure they'll change again so it was likely a waste of time.

Today I learned the difference between a Brontosaurus and a Brachiosaurus, because I watched Jurassic World: Dominion yesterday.

https://www.differencebetween.com/diffe ... hiosaurus/

The Brachiosaurus had hindlimbs that were shorter than their forelimbs, the Brontosaurus had forelimbs that were shorter than their hindlimbs.

Quite convenient to remember really!

To be careful what I post on WP, especially about myself.

I learned that "the Sumerian Kings List" agrees with Genisis in the Bible that there was a "Great Flood", but disagrees about the date.

The Sumerian Kings List says it was about 20 thousand years BC. In contrast the King James Bible says the Flood happened at around 2300 BC.

Quite a discrepancy.

There is no evidence of a worldwide, nor even a region-wide, flood happening at either date.

I need to learn to set better boundaries for myself.

Facebook's news feed is getting worse. Logged in for the first time in days and it just wants to bombard me with "suggestions" for content rather than show me posts from the groups I'm actually a member of. So I logged out again after a few seconds. Facebook is going out of its way to become irrelevant and go the way of MySpace.

I figured out how to record screamed vocals with my condenser mic and make them sound good. Now I don't need my cheap dynamic mic anymore; a proximity effect plug-in can emulate what I liked about the cheap dynamic mic and overall sounds better.

Proximity, limiter and tape emulator.

After testing them in a mix, I don't think I'll need any EQing or additional compression. This is basically what I've been after for years. Now I'm the one who sounds the most like an enraged pterodactyl. Take that Jacob Bannon.

Now, I wonder how much of this will apply to guttural vocals and shouted vocals. It'd be nice to have gained an entire level in the audio producer class today.
We'll see how much XP this is worth when I'm done. :nerdy:
