I hate April Fool's Day... about as much as I hate Valentine's Day. The jokes are never funny, all they do is trick people. What's so funny about tricking people? I imagine that many socially-hindered Aspies have been joked on mercilessly by immature pranksters.

Does anyone else hate April Fool's Day?

I was tricked and lived a fair part of the first part of the day an hour in the past from the rest of the people in this town..in retrospect that was quite nice is essence.

What a brilliant title for a thread :hail:

It depends on the type of prank pulled. If it's a malicious prank destined to hurt and humiliate rather than amuse, then in that respect, I don't agree with pulling pranks. But if it's a genuine attempt to amuse and entertain, then by all means go for it.

The best prank I ever pulled was both simple and deliscious.

The night before, I'd bough a half-dozen eggs and spent about 2 hours in the wee hours of the morning boiling all the eggs 'til they were hard. Once cooled, I put them back into the carton and put the carton back into the fridge.
The next morning, my Mom went to crack an egg into the frying pan only to find it was already boiled. Fortunately, my mother has a great sense of humour and fell about laughing.

We then ended up using the boiled eggs to make egg mayo salad so nothing went to waste. :D

That's the problem... most pranks are either malicious, or just not funny. They're done solely to amuse the person pulling them, not the person getting pranked. I'm not sure whether it's because most people don't have a very good sense of humor, or if it's just the thing to do. But either way, it's pretty pointless. It's more like a "be-more-vigilant" day, than a day for laughter.

I got April Fooled first thing this morning. I walked in the office and signed-in, and the office guy said someone had cracked his office window. I went to look...and...he said, "April Fools!"

That would be an example of what I'm talking about. What's so funny about checking a window? "I got him, he actually thought it was cracked, hur-hur-hur."

Cyberman - you usually kind of scare me, but I'm with you on this one.

I loathe April Fool's Day. I can't stand surprises and practical jokes. I can't even stand playing Hide and Seek - because I get all stressed out with the anticipation.

As much as I love a chuckle, I don't like pranks. I caught about 5 minutes of Punk'd yesterday and I was having a panic attack on behalf of the guy they were punkin'.

I guess I can understand why some people would get off on it - but not me. :x

I think our school forgot, LOL, nobody pranked me! I'm glad, I hate being the butt of people's jokes.

Someone did try and scare me by screaming right next to my ear in art class, I just turned round and I was all, "Anthony, is that your lame attempt at comedy?" The boys thought it was hysterically funny. I just gave them a pity look and went back to my work.

Shastania, that's an awesome prank, LOL!

Not really, but pranks are dull and lack wit.

"A practical joker deserves applause for his wit according to its quality. Bastinado is about right. For exceptional wit one might grant keelhauling. But staking out on an anthill should be reserved for the very wittiest."

- Robert Heinlein, The Notebooks of Lazarus Long (excerpted from Time Enough For Love)

I logged on Xfire yesterday and was given an instant ! !!

The background was Hoff... Nothing but Hoff everywhere.
One of my videos had been temporarily changed to a music video called 'Don't Hassle the Hoff!"
And Xfire Gaming Simplified was changed to HFire Gaming Horrified...

Xfire got me real good..... totally unexpected.

I don't bother to participate in "holidays" or any other such calendar-oriented "rituals" (like voting) due to the fact that they're all basically just pagan-activities. The "participation" into these events/rituals is basically something along the lines of "we're paying hommage to the god of X" on this day !
