There are a lot of bees, wasps and hornets in our neck of the woods. My wife encounters them more than I do and she experiences a severe allergic reaction to their stings.

One of the primary ways we deal with it is to very quickly apply aspirin to the sting. We take an aspirin, crush it, wet it and apply the paste to the site of the sting.

A couple weeks ago I was talking to an Amish granite countertop installer and told me that a common method used in the Amish community is chewing tobacco. He said you apply it to the sting and it quickly neutralizes the poison.

This sounds like an experiment I must try. I am going to the store later today and chewing tobacco is on the shopping list.
