^Thanks, I've heard snow chains mentioned in American fiction, didn't realise the name was so literal.

Is it safe to drive with them on when their's no snow?

They would probably break apart on asphalt. No snow chains in the UK?

No, and this must be why. When it snows badly it might stay for days or weeks but it's just as likely you drive to work in snow and then come out of work latter and it's all gone.

When the snow is gone that's when the chains are taken off. They go on and off pretty quickly. Where I live they're only needed for 2 or 3 days at the most. Although most don't bother.

Snow tires here can cost upwards of 1000.
I haven't used them ever... Not smart though.

I've been hearing cars drive around town with snow tires.

I have studded snow tires on AWD with a manual. They're worth it. I can get through some terrifying drives without them but I recognize now how pointless that was.

If you want some Christmasy background music this month (with no ads), tune in to the 24-hour holiday channel from WQXR in New York:

https://www.wqxr.org/shows/holiday-music/

Good to have on while browsing the web.

My car broke down yesterday and ongoing... unknown whether they will cover it or not. :( i drove 4000 miles above the limit they have in the warranty for coverage-- however a car part/engine/something was at fault and the lease should cover for that.
I apparently have to 'give them hell' according to my XH. And IDK how to.
I can only give hell to people who face to face knowingly lie to me in a way that affects my family.

ALSO even if this was to be paid for, it's still going to cost many thousands less than the lawyer who fully lied and misled and charged me even recently, wrongly, and refused to remove the charge--got. Way less. But most people in my family said to let THAT go and not report (also I don't want to).

Why should the more harmful and nastier person who scammed by much more, and cost you more emotionally, be able to get away with it,
but the people who are polite and not harmed you in any way, who are only billing you depending on a pre-written agreement be fought?

What is a good word for a person who was born obsessed with cars, without any outside influence/pushing it on them?

Darmok, how did your meeting with Satan go?

What a disappointment! The line was so long I didn't even get a chance to have my picture taken with Him before He had to fly off to his next appointment. (Thought I heard something about "Labour Party board meeting" but couldn't be sure.)

You're understandably confused by all the red. No, Satan votes Conservative.

Understanding foreign politics is so difficult! To-may-to, to-mah-to — who can keep track?

Hey, now! Those kickbacks from Public Radio are a big part of my income!

My son's babysitter (she called me her friend - 'now we're friends'-- so I guess I can say that finally lol)

has her 2 sons (one disabled with cerebral palsy and autism) in different ads.

She sent me a video of one ad that was for a bank. I wish I could post it here but I have a feeling she wouldn't like that. Even if it is public for anyone to see...it seems wrong?

The ads they are in--some of them are for rival banks.

They make such a good team. I saw them together during the summer camp at the hospital and they were fantastic. The elder brother takes care of his younger (disabled) brother in every way.

They are also good looking and have beautiful smiles just like her. The elder was the one who was scholar of the year for the whole province. So I take her advice and tips and ways she handles situations very seriously.

She has a knack with kids.
She even does basic therapy for my elder son off and on when she gets a chance.
