I'm not a "skilled worker," per se.

I have a Bachelor's Degree and some credits towards a Master's.

I've been working at my job for the past 36 years.

I have distant relatives who live in Canada.

I don't know if I'd be able to emigrate to Canada. I did the application, though.

You did the application and you sent it, right?

Yesterday I read about something on Twitter recently about a hashtag showing reasons not to live in Canada for Americans. Then they show humorous pictures of things like all the snow. Of course they go on and about it being too cold (actually it's been been quite mild this winter), but they also go on about milk being sold in rectangular plastic bags. Ohhh yes, it boggles the mind.

You can buy milk in cartons and plastic jugs, too, if it's really that insanely difficult for you to put a bag of milk into a special pitcher, snip off a corner of the bag for a spout, and then pour it out.

Anyway, now there's a hashtag about *why* people live in Canada. Most of the photos are of beautiful natural scenery and even the northern lights, but I would personally post not having to pay directly for healthcare or being able to walk around the city without fear of being shot. :P

Illegally cross the border.

I'm sure they'd be understanding and accepting.

Right?

Excellent advice! And we have plenty of illegals here that would be glad to give you some pointers on just how to go about doing that. In fact, why don't you take some of them with you when you form your new Canadian Trail Caravan! :)

Oh, I almost forgot.........

GO TRUMP! GO TRUMP! GO TRUMP!

That's exactly how things went during the VietNam War. But the 2 gov't colluded on it, without saying anything.

One of my parents is Canadian, I could probably get citizenship if I tried hard enough

I would honestly say that there's a 99.999 percent chance that I will not emigrate to Canada for at least six years.

But I wanted to make the inquiry to gauge what actually is going on when it comes to ordinary Americans emigrating to Canada.

In answer to "Reason for applying to come to Canada" are you going to put "Curiosity"?

They didn't ask that.

I would like to emigrate, actually. But my job keeps me stuck in NYC.

I grew up in cold, that is not a barrier to me, but what is, is the money part of it and all the rest of the barriers.
