the last cat I was stuck with, my next door neighbor palmed off onto me, saying words in effect that if you don't take this cat it is going to the pound to be gassed to death. what a choice. :| so I took it, and wheezed and coughed until my sister took it off my hands a year later.

:) although I have a soft spot for cats, I just can't handle their shedding fur and dander.

I was traveling deep in the African jungle when I crossed paths with my adversary, Echo the cat. We sized each other up and then fought for 4 days straight in serious combat until it ended in a stalemate on the face of a cliff in the African rift valley. Ever since we've had a deep respect for one another and have had many adventure. Crazy bastard still likes to stalk me from time to time to test if I've weakened and I do the same to him.

It was maybe 2-3 years ago and one day my father decided to get a cat for my sister named Elmer, they changed his name to Echo thank god. The cat was aloof to most of us, but I showed special interest in him and constantly stalked him and played with him and eventually he came around. Still remembers me even though I've moved out, I come back and he'll instantly try to enter my room and get attention.

We were watching the Super Bowl one year and I look at our back door and there is a black and white Tuxedo cat with three white boots and a zigzag on the fourth. We gave her some of the buffalo chicken hoping she would go away. Didn't work obviously  . So now we had a stray cat that we named Smore living in a box on our back deck.

Then we noticed that she seemed to be getting larger and larger. We thought that it was because of the consistent stream of food we gave her. But before we knew it we had Smore plus five kittens (one died the next day due to a defect). They grew up and we found homes for all of them, one even lives next door. We got her spayed after the birth and that required her to stay inside under supervision for about two weeks. Well, she became an indoor cat after that and never wanted to step outside again.

Sadly though, my Smore cat had passed in 2013 due to a bone cancer. She is missed, but I'll see her agian someday.

Our two current 14 year old boys were purloined from a drop off mom cat. There were five of them and we caught them and kept them on moms porch. We ended finding homes for three of them, and kept the other two. Bobo is the outgoing one who loves everyone, the other hobes is a very near sighted neurotic kitty. Bobo may have gotten attacked by an owl and sill made it home, he nearly lost his tail and lost a toe but is still here. They have spent one year now in a new home, we moved and took them with us. :D

My tuxedo cat, Felix, has had several owners over his 15 or so years. One of them was my grandma's next door neighbour, who must have been in her mid-eighties at least and almost totally deaf. She gave Felix to my grandma after she had to move into a care home. Then, about a year or so later, my grandma's health took a turn for the worse and she too had to move into a care home. We've had him ever since, which I think is about 4 years now (my grandma has since passed away).

After having lived with hard-of-hearing and dare I say slightly crazy old ladies for most of his life, he never meows when he wants something. Instead, he just scratches your leg with his claws until you feed him. Subtle. Other than that, he's just a typical old cat and doesn't do too much except eat, sleep, and grumble at the dog.

I've seen at least 10 cats come, go and stay in my lifetime, we've always had them. My mom is a huge crazy cat lady  Two of them however I consider myself very close to and therefore "mine" in a sense.

The oldest of the two I met 15 years ago when my mom brought her and her brother home from a cat seller. I came home from school to find two kittens in our kitchen, one who was jet black and brave enough to go about exploring his surroundings (the brother), the other a tortoiseshell cat who was more timid than her brother and stayed under the kitchen table on top of a towel. Her brother died about 7 years ago after eating something that poisoned him, but she's still alive. She's a total sweetheart, still as timid and scared of everything as ever, but lovely all the same, with the loudest purr imagineable.

The younger of the two my mom found on a tennis court on the verge of death one day when I was a teenager. Mom rescued her and took her to the vet, then later brought her home. This cat had such a complex personality, she was a tough tomboy who didn't take s**t but underneath the "bad girl" exterior she had a soft heart and wanted to be loved (although if you gave her too much attention she got fed up and ran away haha). We really clicked, she used to try to follow me in the mornings when I left home to catch the bus to school, and my mom had to run out into the yard and catch her haha. We always slept together, and if I spent the night elsewhere, she sat outside my bedroom door for hours. I really loved this cat and am tearing up writing this, she got killed by a dog about 3-4 years ago. :(
