This is a One Pound Note (£1), a variation of the Great British Pound printed by the idiosyncratic government of the equally idiosyncratic tiny island that i live on. The Bailwick of Jersey basically has their own printing department where they print their own paper notes, as well as coins. They literally print their own money so to speak.

Ironically, if you were to take examples of this currency to Great Britain and try and use the money anywhere in Great Britain, although being completely legal tender, your money will be rejected. I remember being a uni in Liverpool,
and trying to give bus drivers £1 notes or 10 p coins, and being told off.

The money can be changed in most banks though.

Also can be used when playing Monopoly. A game that some of the wealthier wealth supremacists in the island play in real life. but instead of just a fun game where no one gets hurt, people die on this "perfect" paradise island.
Perfect, for some, not necessarily for the local inhabitants. ...

the casual observer may see the relative simplicity of a cartoon and think this carving is straightforward, but as you so correctly judge, it IS definitely the "Work of a master"

(Btw, Darmok, I want you to know how much I have enjoyed this thread and the fantastic images you(and others) have shared, ppl rarely say so, but.....thank you!)

I have a coin from some casino that a former friend gave me & the front is a pic of a topless woman & it says "Heads I Win" & the back is a pic of her butt & says "Tails You Lose" I've seen other topless women coins on eBay & other places but I'm not gonna post any pics.

The Lincoln cent went into circulation 110 years ago today (in 1909, the centennial of Lincoln's birth). It was the first regular US coin to feature an actual person (as opposed to an abstract personification of "Liberty" or something similar).

The Lincoln penny has been around for 110 years, so most people have never seen any of the older models. Here are a few.

The "Flying Eagle" cent, one of my favorites:
