The US mint didn't start putting presidents on coins until 1909, when they put Abraham Lincoln on the one cent (penny) coin, in commemoration of his 100th birthday.
George Washington was next on the 1932 25 cents (quarter dollar) coin, in commemoration of his 200th birthday.
Then Thomas Jefferson on the 1938 5 cent (nickle) coin, in commemoration of I don't know what.
Followed by Franklin D. Roosevelt on the 1946 10 cent (dime) coin, in memorial of his death while in office.
Then John F. Kennedy on the 1964 50 cent (half dollar) coin, in memorial of his death while in office.
And finally Dwight D. Eisenhower on the 1971 one dollar coin, I don't know why.
And I'm only pointing this out, from memory, to flaunt my geekiness.
