I'm a little surprised no one's made a thread for this yet. 
How do you plan on celebrating yours? Me, I don't really have anything in particular planned. Back when I lived in my home town, usually I'd go watch a fireworks show, but I'm not sure what they do here.

Canada day is my birthday so I have some family coming over for dinner. Might watch some fireworks later tonight from my backyard too.

Why is it that so many countries were born about the same date as Amurica?
Canada Day is July first.
THE NEWEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD would be celebrating its b-day - which is July 9th.
That country is South Sudan. Just minted as a country a couple years ago when it voted to break away from north Sudan.
But South Sudan just announced that the country is too broke to celebrate its independence day.
So if you wanna wave the flag of some country not your own then-forget Canada Day/US Independence Day- and light a few sparklers for the hapless South Sudanese and their poverty stricken land!

I went home for a lovely turkey supper at my parent's house. Then we went to where a concert was playing but didn't stay long because it is just too hot and it was pretty dull. But we did run into my aunt and uncle there.
We didn't stop anywhere else on the way back to my apartment because my parents were having trouble with their Jeep, but it was nice to do something special on this day.
It's also my other aunt's birthday today.
