Can't Find a Plunger? Here's a Hack to Unclog a Toilet No worries, you've probably got everything you need in the bathroom with you to make this work.

I have found that copious amounts of bleach, left to sit for a few hours, can work miracles. :-)

Cherry bombs can do the job. Bit messy though.

I've resorted to boiling water in an electric kettle, and pouring it in the toilet bowl.
This often requires MANY "kettles-full", but has never failed me yet.

I look forward to my new British-standard 3,000-Watt Kettle speeding up the process.
It's on the way from an eBay seller in the UK, to my home here in Northern Nevada, USA.
That's about double what an American-spec kettle can manage.
