I am curious to know if anyone else has experienced nightmares consisting of overwhelmingly loud noises?

My dreams don't have much sound in them past conversational volumes. My nightmares tend to involve me being chased and running away from people and tend to be triggered by being too cold in real life while in bed.

What loud noises are in your nightmares?

If by 'nightmares' you mean the harsh, external reality where no one gives a damn as long as they rake in the money who cares if a road is dug up multiple times...

I'm sure I have, but none that I can remember. A nightmare like that I'm sure I'd immediately wake from.

that sounds like "exploding head syndrome" from what I've read- Exploding head syndrome is a rare and relatively undocumented parasomnia event in which the subject experiences a loud bang similar to a bomb exploding, a gun going off, a clash of cymbals or any other form of loud, indecipherable noise that seems to originate from inside the head.

Interesting, I will have to read on that.

What I remember is loud noise that became so overwhelming I felt crowded by it. The noise made me feel claustrophobic, and there was no escaping. I have never had a dream like this before, and I found it to be interesting after the fact.

I had a nice reply, and it disappeared on me. Grr.

Basically, I often have sleep paralysis which explains my odd experience....er..makes it less odd in my mind?

Thank you!
