That's an unfortunate illusion. It happens to me too. I think a lot of that is due to timing - your post is marked 1:27pm - right after everybody comes back from Lunch and tries to look busy. And then there's weekends - nobody writes to me on a weekend. Please don't take it personally.

Firemonkey: A poem
by Lillikoi

When I reply to threads
Threads go dead
Or so it seems to me.

I went to the shed
and ate some bread
And now I have to pee.

First time I've had a poem written about me.

Hah, I notice that for myself too! Don't worry about it, it's one of those things about message boards.

Lots of people feel like they think this is happening -- it's called "thread killing" and it's very common for someone to feel like "Hey, when I make my response to a discussion, it turns out it's the last one and the thread is dead -- I'm a threadkiller!"

It's nearly always just an accidental/coincidental thing. Think of all the times you notice someone else's post, and not yours, is the 'end of the line,' and you'll realize you're not the only one who seems to post a last post. It's just random thing.

Since I'm a threadkiller this may well be your last response  (I'm daring other people to continue the thread now, lol).

I never understood this logic. It seems to be a common worry on the internet or is that just the minority who feel that way?

Why would people stop responding to a thread over one person in the last post? See, never made sense so I never thought of myself as being a thread killer.

I'm having a hard time keeping up with threads, so there have probably been a bunch of situations where someone replies to me, I don't see it, and the thread dies. Wish there was a reply notification on this site (other than e-mails, I can't handle getting flooded with e-mail spam).

It happens to me a lot, not lately, but it does happen, and I find it frustrating. There is one thread that keeps lurking around in the GAD that I'm sick of seeing, maybe me, or you, could reply to that one.

But seriously, yeah it is annoying, also you wonder how everybody suddenly grows bored of the same thread at the same time. Like there could be a thread with multiple pages, then all of a sudden you reply and then all of a sudden everybody's grew tired of that thread.

I think a lot has to do with my insecurity and paranoia. Thinking people are thinking "Oh f*ck it's him posting again, silly twerp".

I don't notice that I thread-kill in online forums, but I definitely know I'm good at thread-killing in real-life conversation. :( :(

I also kill threads, but that's usually because some of my opinions are unpopular. I don't mind. It doesn't bother me.
