Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. I was in Kindergarten in 1999, but everyone in my school argued over which one of the two was better!

Well, that and everyone sang, "I Want Candy", during lunchtime just to make the lunch ladies mad at us. They REALLY hated that song for some reason...

Which I find strange because "I Want Want Candy" was a hit for "The Strangeloves" in 1965 and a cover by Bow Wow Wow was a hit in 1982.

I think of the first Gulf War.

The beginnings of the Terrorist Era.

The advent of the Internet for many in the mid 1990's. How revolutionary it was. Even if it was "dial-up."

Video games started getting more realistic-looking.

Beepers, rather than cell (mobile) phones.

The transition from VHS to DVD

Saying something that sounds nice but then turning it into the opposite by adding the word "not!". For example, "I really like your new shoes...not!" I believe Wayne's World made this really popular.

I still say this sometimes, and then I think "Oh that's so nineties!" and get slightly embarrassed.
