Anyone who's ever lived with a baby can tell you how inaccurate this statement this. They wake up every two hours.

When a baby *is* asleep, a lot of parents think they look peaceful and beautiful.

Too bad the kid couldn't have been born in a coma, then they look that way all the time.

Young infants under a month old frequently sleep 18-20 hours a day.

My mother once said that my brother and I both slept through the night even when we were newborns. I wonder if that freaked her out? She might have thought we were really sick or died of SIDS.

How quiet and pleasant that would be! Couldn't they learn from Komala!

The graphics may be unsuitable for some viewers (gross, male nudity, thought it's just a comic drawing), so I will not embed it, visit if you are not easily triggered:

As a mother, I agree with this view.

I often sleep like a baby.
I wake up in the middle of the night, screaming.

I read somewhere that babies are heavy sleepers, but then whenever you make a noise with a sleeping baby in the house you get told to be quiet. :?

I remember once when I was on the bus, a woman had a toddler in a pushchair (stroller) that was asleep. There was a lot of bags hanging on the back of the pushchair, and the weight of them made the pushchair tip back suddenly, and the whole thing crashed right down. I thought that would wake the baby up with a start, but the mother picked the pushchair back up and the baby did not wake up at all, he still was sound asleep!

I guess if babies are heavy sleepers, they only sleep in very short bursts at a time & then having a hard time falling back to sleep.

Maybe what they mean is "I woke up every 20 minutes screaming, hungry and soaking wet"?

I'd rather say "I slept like a kitten". They really look adorable, sweet and relaxed when they're sleeping. Of course, they're adorable when awake, too.

When a bunch of kittens lived in my room, they woke up at 4am every day and ran in circles around the room.
My bed happened to be on their way.
